How do credits work?

Credits are Oyren AI's universal currency ($1 = 10,000 credits). PDF scanning and AI chat cost credits; chat bills input and output tokens separately — see model prices for rates.

What can I use for free?

Notes with LaTeX, mind maps, kanban boards, the image editor, and 100 MB of storage are always free — and synced across your devices. AI chat, PDF scanning, and knowledge search use credits, or you can bring your own API key to chat with AI for free.

What happens when I run out?

You can purchase more credits directly from your dashboard, or use the free open-source desktop app with your own API keys (from Google, Deekseek, Openrouter).

Can I keep my files offline and still use AI?

Yes. The open-source Oyren AI desktop app lets you run a local LLM (e.g. Ollama) against your PDFs entirely on-device — no internet needed.
