Supervised AI agent loops that pause for human input

A supervised loop works from a board, investigates a task and pauses when it records a human question. The reply becomes context for the next step. Pause, resume and stop controls support changes in direction while the board records the task and its decisions.

Task briefs and prerequisite investigation

A project card records the intended result, background and review criteria. The loop can investigate the task, including prerequisite work, before implementation begins. A small task provides a shared point of reference for the agent and the person reviewing it. Questions about the work can refer to that brief rather than requiring the goal to be reconstructed from successive turns.

The ticket remains a place to follow the task as the loop moves between steps. Repeated agent turns still need a stable description of the work. Separate tasks for unrelated requests keep an answer about one part of the project from standing in for a decision about everything.

Human questions and replies

When investigation needs human input, the ticket waits for an answer and the loop records a human question. The loop enters a waiting state. This provides a specific decision for the person supervising the work instead of requiring the agent to guess past an unresolved part of the brief.

The reply feeds back into the work. An answer can be forwarded to a running ticket session, or the loop can investigate the waiting ticket again with the response as context. A direct answer and any relevant constraint provide detail for the next step while the original goal remains in the brief.

Loop controls and result review

The loop has pause, resume and stop controls for changing direction or inspecting the current state. A question pause is a supported workflow, not a promise that every individual agent action waits for approval. Review expectations remain part of the task rather than an automatic approval gate for each action.

The result still needs review against the brief before a task is treated as complete. The loop connects successive steps, questions and replies; judgement about the outcome remains with the person supervising it. The board and supporting notes keep earlier decisions available for the next piece of work.

Questions about supervised ai agent loops that pause for human input

What happens when the loop needs my answer?
It records a human question and enters a waiting state. A ticket being investigated can wait for an answer before that work continues.
How does my answer reach the agent?
The loop can forward the reply to a running ticket session or investigate the waiting ticket again with the answer as context.
Does every action require my approval?
No. The loop supports human questions and pause, resume and stop controls. It does not promise a separate approval gate before every agent action.
